What We Resist Persists. Turning Towards our Resistance is Key to Successful Healing.

When we enter therapy or when we are working on ourselves we nearly always come with the intention to get rid of something within. This act of resistance often creates more problems for ourself. The line ‘What we Persists’ says it all.

You see when we go in to healing with the intention to get ‘rid of’ we are in resistance to what is here. When we are in resistance to what is here no movement can take place! So the very thing we are trying to be rid of stays in place!

The resistance keeps that part we don’t want in place.

So what if we can acknowledge the resistance. Turn towards the resistance and the urge to get rid of it with gentleness and kindness.
What if we acknowledge its’ intelligence and how it most probably protected us and it was our hero when we we were young.

In so doing a shift can occur. A softening.

As we soften we are no longer in resistance, there is movement in the softening and healing and alchemy have an opportunity to take place.

Movement is restoration of the original trauma back to flow and healing again.

When we let go of resistance we can meet the part of ourself that we originally did not want and unveil the gifts and treasure that are within that part of ourself.

By meeting the feelings within, the stories about it fall away and we unveil its’ true power and magnificence, we unveil a beautiful exquisite part of us that we did not know was there.

We are take back the outcasted part of ourself and in doing so get to feel more whole and more accepting of ourselves. We unblock stuck energy that exhausts us or hurts us and creativity and flow is experience instead.

The irony is the part we often come into therapy to get rid of becomes the part that, when we finally stop resisting, make us feel and become more of ourself!

Our soul is calling us to meet what we resist and our mind is telling us to get rid of.

Don’t forget your soul dear friend.
